Large Contemporary Painting Signed Hugh L. Wallace, Georgia Artist
Hugh Loring Wallace (1919 – 2010) received his BFA from University of Georgia, with graduate study, in landscape architecture. One of his most influential teachers was Lamar Dodd. He founded the Art Department at West Georgia College in Carrollton, GA in 1944 to 1950. During this period, he studied at the “New Bauhaus,” The Institute of Design in Chicago. At Lockheed, 1950 to 1952, he formed the Technical Illustration Education Department. In 1952, he moved to Atlanta to be head of the Atlanta Art Institute at the High Museum in its infancy years.
